Seuss attributes his love of verse to his mother. With Johnson and Fancher’s atmospheric, large-scale paintings bursting off the pages, Dr. Seuss was born Theodor Seuss Geisel on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Mass. Here is a wonderful way for parents to talk with children about their feelings. Using a spectrum of vibrant colors and a menagerie of animals, this unique book does for the range of human moods and emotions what Oh, the Places You’ll Go! does for the human life cycle. Seuss saw his original text about feelings and moods as part of the “first book ever to be based on beautiful illustrations and sensational color.” The quest for an artist has finally ended–after the manuscript languished for more than two decades–at the paintbrushes of husband-and-wife team Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher, whose stunning, expressive paintings reveal such striking images as a bright red horse kicking its heels, a cool and quiet green fish, a sad and lonely purple dinosaur, and an angrily howling black wolf. ![]() ![]() Seuss wrote in 1973 is a letter outlining his hopes of finding “a great color artist who will not be dominated by me.” The late Dr. Paintings by Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher HardcoverĪccompanying a manuscript, Dr. ![]()

![]() ![]() Every other character has a well fleshed out personality except for him and I think it’s a huge oversight. I still find myself wishing that the Prince would grow into some sort of personality and show some critical thinking skills – and I’m still disappointed. With some minor changes the plot could have ended with this book, but again we are left on cliffhangers for all of our main characters. But at some point there are only so many times you can force the same characters back together and vice versa before it just gets tired. Rivals gave me everything I could have wanted – more intrigue with all of our favorite characters, relationships being tested, and political maneuvers. I love this series but if we’re being honest with each other, this should have been the last book. Can these enemies join forces, or will old rivalries stand in the way? I enjoyed Hokkaido Highway Blues immensely - Mr Ferguson is a very gifted writer. in 1996, Ferguson hitchiked the length of Japan, hardly a feat worthy of the extreme category of travel writing currently in vogue, but certainly of interest to those of us who have spent time in foreign locales of no.
